WHERE ARE ALL THE SERIOUS WRITERS & STORYTELLERS & FILMMAKERS IN AI FILMMAKING? I have yet to see anything that isnt "hey look what i made this afternoon in my first day on kling"

so im new to this world. i was a filmmaker in my younger yrs. and i just got into ai filmmaking a few months ago. can i even use that term though? can any of us? because i cant find ai films. instead all i can find are youtubers showing terrible shorts. and reddit sub feeds posting the same stuff over and over again. what i mean is. where are the creators pushing the boundaries? where are the actual ai films? where is the pursuit of pulling off dramatic dialogue and realistic faces. and im aware the tech is still janky there but. im sure there is hybrid options that can work well. maybe using actors and then capturing their expressions and emotions and applying them to our ai characters. where is one serious scene? i have seen nothing. nothing but ai \_\_and for the people trying and making "low on actual human and dialogue visual stuff?" im not knocking you. but im in desperate need to find people who are trying to take this tech as it is and create something in the same ballpark as an actual film. hell good luck finding more than one or two dramatic scenes with two actors anywhere on youtube. whats going on guys? why are the talented folks being quiet? are the people pursuing this hiding it from everyone else? i cannot imagine theres not a way to attempt an actual movie using real actors as the basis for the characters and dialogue. everything with ai film looks like the creators in their first week. never written a story in their life and never written two minutes of captivating dialogue before. if someone out there doing this thing im talking about please point me to them. theres no way this world has no big picture people. no one from the film industry stepping in and trying to really pull something legit off. knowing this could be done by one single person w the right ewuipment now? the fact i have yet to see a single freaking display of good fillmaking has got me perplexed. some ppl have some impressive visuals down. but they refuse to tell a story or introduce a real character. hoping ppl reading this understand what i mean. and they can point me in the direftion of somebody trying it.

My newest $1000 AI short film made with Seedance 2.0, Suno, and ElevenLabs

Images were made with Nano Banana. The video was created with Seedance 2.0 in HD, then upscaled to 4K with Topaz Labs. Music was made with Suno. The lip sync was done partly with Seedance and partly with ElevenLabs. The story and lyrics were written by me. The total cost was around $1000, with about 90% of it going toward Seedance. The most time-consuming part of the process was writing the story, dialogue, and detailed screenplay directions for the actions, camera angles, and emotions that were later used to generate the videos. I think AI filmmaking is essentially screenplay and story writing. The rest is more about execution. Of course, because of the nature of generative AI, unexpected things happen all the time, which often leads to small changes that can actually improve the story.

Anyone want to join a chill group for AI filmmakers?

Hey anyone interested in a casual AI filmmaking community? I'm thinking of creating a small group for people into AI video and filmmaking. Just a place where we can: - Share what we're creating - Trade tips about tools (Kling, Runway, Seedance, etc.) - Do occasional friendly film challenges (community voting, no prizes, just for fun and feedback) - Learn from each other's processes I'm aiming for more of a "creative exchange" vibe rather than competition. You know, you make something, explain how you did it, we all learn and improve together. Would you join something like this? What would make it worth your time?

We're thinking about building a streaming platform exclusively for AI-generated films and series — would this actually be useful to you as a creator?

Been going deep into AI filmmaking lately, started as a hobby but honestly it's taken over my life at this point. I've made a few short films, shared them around, got some decent feedback — but every time I finish something I find myself asking the same question: where do I actually put this? YouTube feels wrong. It's built for a completely different type of content and AI films get buried instantly. Vimeo is better but nobody's really there looking for this stuff specifically. So the work just kind of sits there. That got me thinking — and I've been talking to a few other people in the space who feel the same way — about what a proper home for AI films and series would actually look like. Something built specifically for this type of content, where creators are treated seriously and the work gets a real chance to be discovered. The idea would be a platform where anyone can upload their AI-generated short films, features, and series, set their own terms, and build an audience. No gatekeeping, no complicated approval process. For viewers, access would depend on what each creator decides — some content free, some with ads, some with a small fee. For creators, publishing would essentially be free. Still very early in thinking about this but genuinely curious what people here think: * As a creator, would you actually use something like this? * What would make you trust a new platform enough to publish your work there? * What would make you never use it? Honest answers only, even the brutal ones. Tahnks in advance.

I’m an old filmmaker. I’m stunned !!!

I’m an old filmmaker. I’m still stunned by how much we can  do using the AI.  We certainly can tell stories at a fraction of the cost.  Do we have complete control, no.  Specifically I see the problem with consistent backgrounds.  It makes using a master shot and then over shoulder etc etc. difficult when it should be simple. But it’s not impossible. It’s just work, work, work, and spending credits to get it right.  One thing is certain.  Lip sync is here to stay.  It kills me to see it avoided. Most historically accurate Cleopatra Biopic

This happened in real life. When Cleopatra’s 10 year old brother first ousted her in 51BC it was with the help of the Gabiniani legion. That one mistake of alienating them as portrayed in the film almost cost her everything. I did extensive research to make this film. The locations are reconstructions of the Alexandria palace. The furniture is based on museum pieces. The dialogue in the actual language spoken at the time. The wardrobe also based on archeological findings (except for one piece I hollywooded it for effect). This film would’ve been near impossible to make in HW due to its casting constraints. Cleo spoke 9 languages and was 18 yrs old… Now you can watch a slice of history. Enjoy. 😊 Give me a subscribe if you wanna watch more of what I make. I’m currently in the midst of an even bigger project.

Do we have a hater in this group purposely downvoting everyone’s posts?

Here’s what I’m seeing- please correct me if I’m wrong: I keep seeing people posting videos they’ve made with AI- because this subreddit is “AI filmmaking,” and they keep being downvoted to the point I’m seeing new ones with “0” Reddit karma- since they aren’t negative, I assume there is one person hanging out in our subreddit here purposely downvoting everything. I keep upvoting them so they have at least, “1,” - why the f-k would someone auto downvote everything here? IF this is happening, can the mods see it and boot this person? It’s one thing if you have issues with a post but I find it hard to believe all these videos being shared by their creators deserves a downvote. I’m excited to see what people are making and think this subreddit is a place for us all to talk and support each other; yet I think we have a hater in here. I hope I’m wrong- what are you all seeing? And if one person is doing this, can we get a moderator to ban them? To everyone creating videos- keep going and ignore the hater(s)

Why do so many strong AI films get overlooked?

I’ve seen a lot of genuinely impressive AI short films, trailers, and scenes get buried while lower effort clips often get more visibility. For creators here, what do you think is missing most right now? 1. Better curation 2. More serious feedback 3. Better discovery algorithms 4. Collaboration / networking 5. Stronger communities for cinematic work Curious what people actively creating think, especially those posting work regularly.

Are there any feature-length films made using AI? What workflows do they use?

I’ve been exploring AI filmmaking recently and was curious about how far things have progressed. I’m aware of *Mann Pishach* by Rahi Anil Barve, which used a hybrid approach (limited actors + AI enhancement), but I’m wondering: Are there any **fully or mostly AI-generated feature-length films** out there? Any notable examples I should check out? Also really curious about the **actual workflow** people use: Do creators generate **still images first (start/end frames)** and then convert them into video? Or is it more **text-to-video shot-by-shot** now? How do they maintain **character consistency across scenes**? Would love to hear real pipelines, tools, or even your personal workflow if you’ve tried this.

I've put 300 hours into turning my sci-fi novel into an AI movie. I'm looking for honest, helpful feedback to make my next chapters better! (You can find all the details in the comments)

I made an AI movie from my sci-fi novel that I wrote and published 20 years ago. Right now it's 10 parts, each 5-9 minutes long, so about 65 minutes total - that's half the book so far. I've spent around 300 hours on it, and the quality went from kinda bad to pretty decent. I really want to make this project the best it can be, so I need honest, helpful feedback to fix the parts that need work. I'd also love to hear what you think about the story itself. To all you creators out there - how do you keep moving forward without just getting sarcastic, useless comments?

How is the "Netflix of AI cinema" going to look like? What concepts are likely to win? Or coexist?

There is obviously a revolution in cinema about to happen. But it is not that clear what exactly happens, what platforms are going to solve the problem of: * TONS of great indie storytellers enabled to create their high quality movies & series * 1000x more AI slop to bury it Most likely — several models at once. But I'm curious to hear what others think. The main factor that changes the industry is the cost and ease of producing high quality visuals. How does this change the existing models and what new models get invented? 1. **Hollywood studios** — they will keep producing, and they will leverage AI more and more, making their production cheaper. We'll possibly get more content from them but the model remains. 2. **Netflix model** — a streaming platform buying exclusive licences to individual movies. This will still be the case, but given the astronomical volume content produced by indie creators I don't expect today's streaming platforms to keep up with the volume. 3. **YouTube** — although this is the main platform for AI creators to post their work today, it's already very hard to find anything good within all the noise and it'll only get worse. 4. **Native AI film platforms** — there already are a few, but given they are creator first, they still showcase too much content, often not interesting to viewers who are not AI film enthusiasts (clips, concepts, fake trailer, artistic work, music videos etc.) This is what exists today and what I can envision happening with the existing models. But there's something missing: How will someone who wants to simply enjoy good storytelling leverage the situation where so many great storytellers are enabled to produce high quality work?

How are your longer format AI films doing, generally speaking?

How are your longer format (3+ minutes) AI videos doing? Here are my stats. **Average video length:** 8 minutes **Average view time:** 3 minutes **Average views (YouTube):** 170 I have a feeling that my stats are the norm. And if they are, it points to friction--for reasons within my control and beyond it. The reasons within my control can be categorised under **'make better films'.** Yes, I know that. However, the reasons beyond my control are not trivial and include: 1. **Anti-AI sentiment:** In general, folks are less likely to watch AI movies. There is a visceral reaction to AI movies, whatever the reason/s. For example, most in my family say that they are likely to skip a longer format film if they feel OR *even know* that it is made in AI. The bar to get through this friction is currently quite high. 2. **Technology Limitations:** Contrary to the general perception among the AI movie haters, we know that it is not just about prompting and the machine spinning out a film. It's generally difficult to get AI to stay faithful to your vision, maintain character consistency, and even understand basic instructions like 'man looks to the right' or 'raises his left arm'. I know these are challenges faced by nearly all early adopters of most technologies, unless you have an already established distribution channel/brand. And the solution is to hang in there and keep doing stuff till you figure out how to break through. But wondering how your longer format films are doing in terms of the real numbers beyond the anecdotal thumbs up from friends, family, and fellow AI film makers.

This is what consistency looks like, different people, different buildings, different episodes, SAME CITY CREST!

It's the small details like this that separate a great film from one that was "just good enough". This is what separates lazy creators from craftsman. That crest will most likely be missed when watching my series, but the eagle eyes will spot it. For me, the whole attitude of "oh no one will notice", or "ah you know, it's good enough" doesn't fly, because even small and easily missed details will be picked up by an eagle eye out there. Making piles of easy slop is one thing, but to slog it through 10 episodes with attention to detail at this level, it takes a lot. But it's well worth it.
